on those short elementary school baskets, we would be Dr. J sometimes or Pete Maravich, but most of the time it was Dawkins with the two hand tomahawk. Nobody had ever seen anyone like him before. Most centers during that era were skilled, finesse guys. The Sixers didn't even know what to do with him the first two or three years in the league. They wouldn't play him, because he fouled a lot, wasn't a good passer, didn't have a face-up game or really even a back-to-the-basket game. Then they finally figured it out. Oh yeah, we could just turn him loose and let him intimidate everybody.
If he played today where his athleticism would be better appreciated, he would be an all star. I don't think he made a single All Star team back in the day.
