were in any immediate threat of being physically attacked in any way other than a little shoving. In both instances he threw a punch, once to the back of someone's head. Now something may have happened before that to piss him off, which I suppose could mitigate his behavior somewhat, but it is still completely unjustifiable to throw punches in those scenarios. While what may have speculatively happened before that could help explain and mitigate what he did, there is really no way to argue that it justified it.
