Soaking up childhood memories listening to Vince Scully do MLBN TV.
Raised in So Cal a Dodger fan unless they were playing the Cubs.

Recall in 1961 the Cubs Rookie of the Year 20-year old second baseman Ken Hubbs when Vinnie said "he will be playing 2B for the Cubs for the next 20 years."

How things change. Hubbs, LDS from Colton California, was killed in a plane crash a year later. In those days there was no players' union, great players didn't move around much, and Hubbs a defensive specialist, would not have been rated nearly as highly in this age of advanced stats.

Surprised more team commentators do not follow Scully's model of not sounding at all like a homer while calling a game, regardless of his personal sentiments.

I listened to several hundred radio broadcasts of this baseball giant from age 10.
