I had a conversation with my parents comparing our first jobs and homes. I recall that my father's job paid something seemingly very small. Let's say $25K. But they lived in a 5 bedroom house on a third an acre plot. The home looked almost exactly like the "Brady Bunch Home." I recall that the cost of the house was the same as his yearly salary.

It was the 80's, so he probably had to pay double digit interest on a mortgage. But, still, the cost of a good home in a good neighborhood was one year's salary!

I live in a better home. I wouldn't say I live in a better neighborhood. My home cost multiples of my yearly salary. So. . . ? About the same? Worse? Worse now with more up-side?
