I know that my wife and I earn a lot more money than my family had, but my dad probably managed money better than I do. I'm so frugal or cheap that I need to leave my wife in control of our finances or we probably wouldn't buy anything that's not a necessity. I even tell my wife each year to stop buying BYU football tickets because the expense hurts my soul.

Getting divorced in my early 30s AND being forced to restart my career from the bottom rung at the same time put me behind a bit.
My dad retired much earlier than I'll be able to retire.
I expect to continue to work full time until I'm at least 75.
