If that is the case and BYU is 10-2 or 11-1 and has a tougher schedule than Notre Dame, why wouldn't BYU get the same?

We are both P5 independents.

Where is ND starting the season in the rankings?

They don't. The rankings that count for the playoffs don't come out until Nov 3

I doubt we'll see any non SEC team in the CFP with 2 losses.

read your comparisons but I don't think people believe Navy is better than ECU.
