You've read too much into the official depth chart. It's not like they've moved
him to offense. You're gonna see Preator on the field a lot this year. You'll see him mostly at safety against Nebraska, but after that he'll likely be part of a 3 man rotation at corner, giving both Hanneman and Davis breathers and likely getting equal playing time.


BYU is finally getting their best athletes on the field, and with Nacua (rumored) out for Nebraska, that's why you're seeing Preator listed at safety on the depth chart. Once Nacua is back, you'll likely see Preator listed as primary backup at both corner spots.
