Regarding potential suspensions...
BYU is different...it just is. Punishments should be doled out consistent with their stated mission.

1 - Faith = offenders will be required to sit on the front row at all church services for three months and will be assigned to head the Elders Quorum moving service team.
2 - Family = offenders will be require to Skype family members three times a week for a month.
3 - Friends = offenders will be banned from going on dates or otherwise meeting with friends for two months (other than attending FHE and church sponsored service projects, see #1 above)
4 - School = extra credit work for all classes
5 - Football = not that important. Maybe do some extra up/downs during practice. No games needed to be missed.

Honestly...banning people from games 9 months later seems to be a bit overkill. BYU already has a more strict code of conduct than any other team on the planet. The fight was not an indication of out of control kids that have consistent conduct issues that need to be addressed.

Let's play football already.
