RE: How bad is Pitta's health?
Pitta, who is still rehabbing after his second major hip surgery, will not be eligible to play until Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 26. Pitta could make his return on Monday Night Football, but that’s still in question.

"As far as I’m concerned as a coach, I think you plan for the worst, and you hope for the best. I’m planning on him not being back," Harbaugh said.

"I think he’s planning on being back. It’ll just come down to whether it’s a smart thing to do, and whether it’s what he wants to do, and really, what his family wants to do. He and his wife have to make that decision for themselves. And he’s going to get more information – I’m sure – and just try to do the right thing."

Pitta participated in individual and position drills during Organized Team Activities, but once the Ravens put the pads on for training camp, Pitta was held out. He hasn’t had any contact since dislocating and fracturing his hip on Sept. 21, 2014.

Pitta has also run routes on the field before each of the Ravens’ preseason games. He appears to have good mobility and explosion, but still needs to gain permission from doctors to suit up. Harbaugh said he gets the impression that Pitta wants to play.

"He really wants to have a career, and he wants to have a legacy as a player," Harbaugh said. "And that’s more important than anything – money or anything else – the statement he’s able to make about his football career.

"But the other part of it is his life – quality of life – that he has to mix into that consideration, and that’s what he’s trying to figure out right now.”
