When I was five, our family moved back to Utah
My dad was a big BYU fan, but since we'd lived out of state and I was young, I didn't even know BYU existed. The first week we were back in Utah, I was in the neighborhood getting to know the kids. I heard some kids arguing about BYU and Utah. I didn't know what BYU was, but I knew I lived in Utah, so I thought that would be a good team to cheer for.

Later than evening, I asked my dad what BYU was and he said they were a Mormon school in Utah. I immediately decided they were my team. I've never looked back. My allegiances to BYU were really to my Church--if my Church had a sports team, of course I'd cheer for them. That is how my five-year-old mind worked.

I was a pretty wise kid.
