Missions don't help football players... even the Oline
We need a better mix of non-mission kids on the Oline. I have seen numerous solid Oline prospects come in from HS and looked great and very promising pre-mission. I totally anticipated them going on missions, gaining 20-30 lbs and coming back "men". Well the men that came back weren't the nasty ones that left.

Reynolds, Hansen, Freeman, Black, Mathews, Stringham, Aletto are a few that come to mind. Great HS prospects and had solid reviews during their pre-mission play (in training/practice/games), but came back soft or with a much milder desire in football let alone destroy an opposing player in a game. Sorry, but missions in the middle of a football career provides nearly no benefit to the mentality and physicality you want to see in a nasty college Olinemen. I'd rather have a nasty, angry, violent HS kid to work with than a gentle "full grown man" with a real world perspective. I'd rather have BYU's nutrition program and trainers tutoring them how to build their bodies than having missionaries do it on their own with Top Ramen.

I think the 2015 recruiting class for Oline was ideal. Nwigwe, Davis and Jimenez will play 4(5) straight mixed along with other mission kids like Lodgson and Langi. If the RMs don't pan out for some reason we have a group of non-LDS (non-mission) Soph/JRs that have had experience in the program and guys like Dewey Gray giving them pep talks all year long. If we can get this 50/50 mix with the Oline it give you a smaller RM group that has the potential to deteriorate and wither out of the equation.
