Lee Marks, Ian Johnson, Jeremy Avery, Doug Martin & David Mikell were all CA products. And they darn near landed Jamaal.

Speaking as a CA high school kid, I was always amazed at the tenacity of the Boise recruiters. They didn't just target the glamorous USC recruits. They showed up to games/practices in person, developed relationships with coaches & zeroed in on some overlooked but quality kids. There was nothing magical about their success. They just wanted it more than their competitors. I give credit where it's due.

I know that's just an anecdote. But I've never liked the implication that Boise kids were too stupid to hack it elsewhere. Especially when "P5" programs like UNC straight up cheat to qualify their players.
