Is this in poor taste or is it leveraging my position?
My current position is salary based with a monthly bonus, the bonus is based on performance of the account. The account I oversee is very profitable and very easy to oversee.

The VP of my division asked me if I would have interest in relocating to takeover a much larger account which would entail a much larger workload, and it isn't very profitable currently. Because if its performance, it is guaranteed I would be taking a pay cut if my pay stayed as currently structured. Getting this account would go a long way in making a name for myself within the company.

Is it acceptable to ask for an increase in base pay to make up for the difference in what I would be losing in making the move? My thinking is if they really want me there, they'll accept the proposal.
