as an independent and I'm not sure it would help especially because BYU already has inherent restrictions church, honor code, demographics etc., I think being in a P5 conference would help a bit as it has with Utah, but if you look at our recruiting rankings as an independent, we had better classes when we were in the MWC, granted this was before the P5 and G5 division.
