I live on the Eastside of Seattle
I do have 2 Ute Fans in my ward, and I did see a Utah bumper sticker downtown earlier this year (Utah plates on the car), and I know a very vocal Utah fan in the ward next to mine. And in fairness, now that Utah is part of the PAC12 they do get mentions on both local sports radio stations at the same level that Colorado does (< the other teams in the PAC12). But now that they are the highest-ranked PAC12 team in the conference I'm sure they will get more mentions as long as they can maintain it.

So having given Ute fans in Washington their due (and BTW, props on the #5 ranking), I will say that the coverage of BYU by local media during the first 2-weeks of Mangum miracles, and even the close loss at UCLA, was far more than anything I saw or heard about the Utes during that same time. And I will say that almost universally people I talk to about football up here are more interested in BYU than Utah. Maybe it's just because BYU is such a unique school/story? Maybe it's because they are still mad they lost the national championship to BYU? And in my ward and stake, the number of BYU fans dwarfs the handful of proud Ute fans. On the freeways I see 10 or 20 BYU window stickers for every single red U window sticker.

So if you live in Utah and you are feeling like you want to get some more Y love, just leave the state and head in almost any direction... Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Idaho, DC, Florida, etc. You'll be amazed by how many passionate BYU fans are all around the country and around the world.

On a side note, my observation is that out-of-state fans of both teams co-exist more peacefully than they do in-state. I've never had a Ute fan curse at me or be rude to me anywhere.... other than in the Salt Lake City.
