How does the ECU offense/defense stack up to the other teams we have played?

Take this post with a grain of salt because that's about all it's worth!

This post will only use total yards allowed and total yards gained. Sure there are some flaws in this method (doesn't account for the level of competition) but it's an interesting thing to look at anyway.

Offense:

Nebraska           #20   with 2,370 yards
Boise State        #22   with 2,297 yards
UCLA                 #24   with 2,272 yards
Michigan            #59   with 1,963 yards
UConn               #111 with 1,510 yards

ECU                  #40 with 2,130 yards

Defense:

Michigan           #2     with  920 yards allowed
Boise State      #14   with 1,301 yards allowed
Connecticut      #59   with 1,720 yards allowed
UCLA               #82   with 1,911 yards allowed
Nebraska         #108 with 2,194 yards allowed

ECU                #95 with 2,013 yards allowed

BYU is ranked #79 in defense and #62 on offense. Of course the shutout in michigan really killed us. Had we played another team and scored our average yards per game then we'd be ranked in the top 30 offenses. Then again you could take away the worst game for any team listed and make them look better, so that doesn't really mean much and if you're going to get into that sort of calculation you may as well pull the SP+ power rankings.

Anyway, just wanted to provide som input on what we are looking at with ECU this weekend. They will be a little better than the michigan offense and a little worse than the UCLA defense, that bodes well for us imo.
