I'm not in the "fire him" crowd. I'm simply in the "Bronco has peaked" crowd.
Bronco's been at the helm 10+ years now. His best years were the last years BYU was in the MWC. Arguably, BYU should have been able to have really good-to-great records in the years immediately after going independent, as we all knew the P5-laden schedules wouldn't start for 4-6 years. So, how did Bronco do in his first four years of coaching an independent BYU team?

2011 - 10-3
2012 - 8-5
2013 - 8-5
2014 - 8-5

Each of these seasons had dumb-founding losses (2011 - Yewtah, 2012-Yewtah & SJSU, 2013 - Virginia & Yewtah, 2014 - USU, UCF, Nevada, Boise, Memphis). Now we are seeing the schedule filled with more P5 teams this year than ever before and we expect the results to magically improve? I don't think so.

Do I want to get back to 10+ wins per year? YES I do.
Would I love another national championship, a CFP appearance, an NY6 bowl? YES I do.
Do I think Bronco is the man to get BYU there. NO I don't.
So, should BYU fire Bronco? NO. He's done nothing to merit being fired.
Should BYU extend his contract beyond 2016? NO. He's done nothing to merit another extension.
Will BYU extend his contract beyond 2016 if he wants to stay? Sadly, yes.
