monthly stipends. These guys get paid... they've been paid via stipend for a very long time. In the early 2000's my cousin got $1100 ish a month IIRC. Granted his was that high due to living at home and not having some forwarded to housing... When my brother was offered by Weber st. of all schools he was offered $750 a month in stipend and this was around 2007 ish.

They really just want more. They aren't going hungry and going without their argument has been they want to cash in like the college coaches have.
