Tanner will know that Taysom is one play from being inserted back in as the starter. 3 out of 4 years Taysom has gone down with a season ending injury, the odds are Tanner will play next year if Taysom comes back. Jimmy Mac stepped aside for Marc Wilson after being the starter. I know that Tanner may feel that his progression is stalled if Taysom came back, but consider where Tanner would be if Taysom played this season - on the bench. So if you just flip flop the two years around it is basically the same thing. Tanner could redshirt next year as well. This would not "set back the program" as Criddle mentions but it would actually help the program tremendously. If Taysom comes back and wins a heisman trophy and leads BYU to an undefeated season would that seriously be a set back to the program? Obviously not. Now the odds of going undefeated are not great, but with a healthy Taysom leading the show next year with a healthy Jamaal - I actually give us some decent odds of doing so.
