I can't remember any year for the Pac-8, Pac-10, or Pac-12 in which the Pac was
as weak as it is this year. I know that a lot of BYU fans hate the Pac, but for someone like me that grew up with USC as his main "other" team after BYU, and generally preferring the teams in the Pac to those in other conferences, it kind of sucks.

And it ruins my Plan B. If BYU loses, I usually have a couple other teams that can win and take a bit of the disappointment away, but this season no Pac-12 team has been impressive for two or more games in a row. USC curb stomps Arizona State, then turns around and looks completely incompetent against Washington. UCLA slaps around Arizona then next game rolls over and dies against an Arizona State team that had just been mercilessly abused by USC.

And it's not just the inconsistent wins and losses. Overall, it's been sloppy, boring football. When the first week was like that I figured that things would get better, but if anything, it's gotten worse. Oregon is as inept and slow as they were sharp and speedy a few years ago. Oregon State completely lost their passing game, and Utah is the most generic and bland that they've been since joining the conference.

Seriously. How did Cal end up being the most entertaining team in the conference?
