However, as the church has looked at LDS athletics as a missionary tool, Utah v BYU gives them a better vehicle to deliver than BYU. I believe the church is just fine allowing BYU to shrink its athletic presence and not have to devote a lot of money to it since Utah is clearly becoming the standard bearer of top tiered LDS athletics
