I believe he said he took a benzo. These are usually prescribed for anxiety but have other uses too.

Anyways, when you hear the term "blackout", it refers to a state where you can't remember the next day. The only times I've really blacked out were mixing alcohol and benzos. Lots of Rx drugs react with alcohol but benzos are particularly potent with alcohol.

I'm not proud of knowing all this,but it is what it is. I hope and pray that he is not doing that sort of thing and getting behind the wheel. It might as well double your blood alcohol level.
