And I avoid it like the plague. (I have Diamond status and Basic Delta basically negates my status perks)

Basic Economy is $15 - $20 cheaper for the same roundtrip flight.

With Basic Delta you get (or don't get...)
- Unable to change your flight or get any credit from a cancellation.
- Unable to fly standby (Because of my status, I can get same-day confirmed changes to my flight up to 24 hours in advance for free.)
- Unable to pre-select your seat until check-in (24 hours in advance) which means no emergency row or isle seats.
- Unable to get a complimentary upgrade or economy comfort seat.
- Last to board (regardless of status - no priority boarding)
- Would be more likely to be denied boarding if the flight is overbooked
