Let's take Saving Private Ryan for an example. Let's say there's a scene where a guys head is blown off and you can't stand that one scene but all other violence is fine to you.. Instead of blocking all violent scenes you can just edit out the head blown off and the rest will remain unedited.

To make it simple. You can take out single scenes or only filter the F word while leaving the other cussing in the movie.
