Using different platform tablets in same family
We may be getting our kids a tablet for them to use for homework, etc. Still not sure whether that or a Chromebook is the way to go.

But assuming we do a tablet, what's the collective wisdom about adding a tablet from a different platform? My wife and I have iPads but we're thinking of getting the kids a Kindle Fire or an inexpensive Android tablet. Obviously the paid apps won't transfer from one platform to the next -- any other downsides to the set-up we're contemplating?

And what's the best way to use the tablet for homework? Can we get a keyboard and some sort of basic wordprocessing platform?
