Disney disclosed that its most profitable TV asset, ESPN has 92 million subscribers, down from 99 million 2 years ago for a net loss of 7 million. This is a trend nationwide as people cut cable.

Remember 4 or 5 years ago ESPN started streaming their games directly online to their XBOX ESPN App, requiring no cable subscription. That was how I watched the first year of independence. However the cable companies found out and sued. In the end the agreement was people could stream ESPN but not after they proved they had a cable TV account.

It won't be long until ESPN ditches the cable companies...HBO is doing it now.
