"Sealed" car batteries. Another racket. Unfixable?
So our family car wouldn't start last night and I think that the battery is dead. While laying in bed last night I started to wonder if there is a way to "fix" sealed car batteries. If you have been paying attention the price of batteries lately has skyrocketed and almost doubled just in the past few years.

So I decided to search the Internet and thinking that I would find information on how to drill out each cell and then fill it and then reseal it. Turns out it is even much more simple than that. Most all of these batteries have removable seals that are either located underneath a plastic cover or a sticker label. Basically, they are covered so nobody would have any idea that they can even be serviced.

I am still trying to charge mine but if it does not charge I will be attempting to do the specs on my own but either adding distilled water or adding distilled water with Epson salt

It's just so crazy that it wasn't that long ago that you can buy a battery for 25 or $35 and you can also service it yourself when I started to go bad. Now we are in a situation where everybody wants their money and not only do they not want you to service them but they want you to pay almost 100 bucks every time you replace it.

Just another "little thing" in a long list of things that makes the cost of living significantly more (even taking inflation into account) than just a decade ago.

I would think that environmentalist would jump all over this simply due to the fact that these car batteries have to be disposed of and they are rather toxic and expensive to deal with
