it is. back in the old days when I worked at a shelter we actively discouraged it, at least for families with children. Christmas just had too many distractions to properly acclimate a new dog into a household, not to mention a higher-than-average set of risks (ribbons to eat, glass bulbs to break, stuff to chew)
