I am sorry but I hate this.
The standards at BYU in ANY other sport, department, anything don't agree. If you're applying to BYU do you need a ecclesiastical endorsement? Agree to the honor code? Sure, do you also need a very impressive GPA and SAT/ACT score absolutely.

If you're a professor at the renowned Marriot School of business will the fact that you're a very devout member of the church, current stake president, former mission president, but maybe you ran a small business and it was pretty successful, will that cut it? No way! BYU as an institution demands the best of the best in all areas. Even the maintenance and grounds keeping. It's always immaculate!

Of course sports is a different animal, but the reason why Dave Rose gets way less heat then Bronco is that he runs a clean program, his guys don't get into trouble, he deals with the honor code, he doesn't run it up the flag pole like the arrogant, polarizing way Bronco does. Most BYU fans are reasonable, they know BYU hoops is about where they can/should be. We'd like to see deeper tourney runs, WCC championships but we're far away from wanting a change. Dave Rose has recruited very well and has beaten rivals (generally, yes I know Utah has 2 in a row).

Bronco is a different story, he says the program is different and football is 5th, but honor code/legal issues seem to arise about as much or more then with Lavel, not blaming Bronco, just don't say it's different when it isn't. He shows we can play amazing one week and then not show up the next. Very inconsistent. He causes horrible situations like in 2010 when we lost up at Utah St. Fired Jaime Hill but then saves his job by rallying the troops to win the New Mex bowl. That's just one example. It's time for a change.
