For dish there is an app, as well as a software you can download on your computer. I didn't want to download software on computer so just did phone app. It's the dish anywhere app. Not sure if it's only available with certain pacakges, but with his you can watch pretty much any channel he has on tv from tablet/phone. I have direct tv so not sure all the details of what he's paying for.
