BYU vs Belmont
Without a doubt this was the best game this team has played this season and against the best competition they have seen. Belmont will post 20+ wins and more than likely will make another appearance in the tournament. What they ran into tonight was a BYU team that outplayed them in most aspects of the game.

BYU started out a bit sloppy and made some dumb turnovers but they tightened it up and in the end only committed 12 for the game. What was most impressive was that Rose has this team playing better defense and they can actually stop teams. Make no mistake, Belmont will shoot well against all of their opposition because they work the ball and get open looks.

BYU beat them up on the boards and forced them into turnovers.

Offensively it was the guard line that put up the points. Collinsworth came so close to another triple double and until the end he was perfect from the line. He only took a couple of outside shots and did what he does best, attack the rim. Emery showed why he will be an important cog in this team for the next four years and when you put him in the backcourt with TJ Haws next season, along with Bryant, he will only get better. Fischer broke out of his slump and finally hit some threes. He is still a streaky shooter and I think that Rose has decided to sit him when he is missing.

One little point that might have been overlooked was the defensive play of Chatman in the first half. He put pressure on the Belmont shooters and allowed us to climb back into the game when there was a chance it could get away. Bradshaw was on fire in the first half and was hitting shots from, dare I say, Jimmer range. He had to cool off but I think it was the defensive pressure in the second half that kept him from getting good looks.

I was a bit perturbed with the officiating. Overall I think they called a good game but they continually allowed Bradds to bump our defenders off their spot and whenever a BYU player used the same physicality they were called for an offensive foul.

The only real negative in the game was our continued lack of free throw shooting. It was a little better but there are still to many misses.
