Good, balanced, comments especially with regard to Emery's role as an "important
cog" and very much the support for the team's unquestioned most valuable and most reliable go to player Kyle Collinsworth. KC stands alone as the team's top player. To be fully effective, he very much needs a support role person as Halford provided over the last two months last season. Emery is filling that void.

We are thrilled with Emery's important contributions. But Collinsworth is, with the exception of Ainge, the greatest PG in BYU history.

Collinsworth will end his career at BYU as the all time leader is assists and rebounds; and #2 behind Jackson Emery as the all time leader in steals.

During the first four games of this season, he was the best player on the floor, though short of expectations as he seemed to be stricken by a severe case of senioritis or trunkyness and functioned on the floor with less than his best judgement too often.

He may have snapped out of that against Belmont.

Like all great team performers, KC needs help to fill voids to be fully effective and it is impressive that Emery looks like he can fill those voids as a freshman as Halford did last year as a senior multirole player. Thank you Nick Emery!

Nevertheless, KC is the one player who stands out above the rest. He is the man whom you give the ball when it matters most. Any thought or attempt to undermine that would work to the disadvantage of this year's team and to the disadvantage of Emery's development. We can trust that Nick continues to keep his important role in proper perspective.

John Wooden once said to Charlie Rose: "Love is the most important word in the world. The second most important word is balance." This team's problem this year has been finding the balance. Fortunately, it is a concept Coach Rose understands and cares about more than most. Balance is something that we fans sometimes struggle with when it comes to evaluating sports.

P.S. One cool stat so far: 26 blocked shots in 5 games for BYU! At this pace BYU will exceed the total blocks from either of the last two years before WCC play begins.
