How is starting Nelson not putting the team first?
People hated him because Heaps bombed and he, perversely, got blamed for it. And then, through historical revision the haters have made him out to be a huge mistake with no QBing skills. Now, I'll be the first to agree that he wasn't a great QB, but it's not like BYU had a can't-miss option on the sideline.
People like you seem to be blind to the fact that the other QBs on BYU's team weren't particularly good and that Nelson 2011 still has the best PER since Hall at 153.
I do agree that they should have substituted him out earlier in the BSU game for (true freshman) Hill, but other than that I can't think of too many games were he wasn't the best choice for the team to get the win.
