Even if they ARE active LDS and have every intention of remaining active...
In the church, it doesn't necessarily follow that they want BYU.
BYU is a strange, quirky place...even for many active LDS kids. Many aspects of the culture, the honor code, the community, don't appeal to every LDS kid. I know it didn't appeal to me.
