Your question tells me you have not spent much time playing sports
That's cool. Just know that teams (coaches and players) prepare hard each week to defend and attack specific patterns and practices (playbook) their opponents use. To begin games, some teams throw in trick plays and others come out with additional emotions.

Missouri had additional reasons i.e. coach retiring, school protest uniting students, etc. USU had reasons to have higher emotions entering the game i.e. "senior day." The program with high emotions it can be draining and causes mental lapses. This is why Bronco, Edwards and other coaches try to keep their players at an even level hoping to ride out the other teams emotions and errors. Edwards called it "business as usual."

Be grateful Bronco and his staff are good enough to make the right adjustments. It's the score at the end of the 4th quarter that determines wins and losses and not the 1st, 2nd, or even the 3rd quarters!
