Great pet. A couple pointers...
1. Look for a holland lop. Great breed, friendly.
2. To see if a rabbit is patient enough to be handled, see if you can hold it on its back. If it scratches and claws to get right side up, pass on that particular bunny. Holland Lops tend to pass this test. Some other breeds don't.

I'd only want a rabbit I could hold, so no. 2 above is my litmus test.

Most bunnies are also smart enough to pee in a litter box. Poo is a different story but luckily it's not hard to pick up.

Our holland lop died just a couple weeks ago after 9ish years of being a great pet for my son who was 7 when he got him and 16 now. He wanted to personally bury him. Good experience overall and I've had all kinds of pets (hamsters, birds, a few bunnies, dogs, chinchillas, just not cats (allergic)).
