Smith was everything you want in a pass catching tight end
Very smart, great hands, good size, good speed. I was a bit surprised he didn't make it in the NFL. I can't remember why... was it he didn't run a good 40?
I agree about Jolley too. As a BYU fan, it was "ho hum, another amazing tight end that came out of nowhere. " And he went on to be a good tight end for years with the Raiders. Seeing Peck this year reminded us a lot of the old tight ends. Some like Mili, Smith, George, and Molini were highly recruited but so many others like Harline, Pitta, Jolley, and Lewis came out of nowhere.
