Rose's teams have played terrible defense for several years now. His teams have never won a conference tournament. In the WCC era, his teams have had some real head scratcher losses. He continues to employ Tim Lacomb and Terry Nashif; two nice guys who couldn't coach themselves out of a paper bag. For all the regular season wins, he still only has 4 NCAA tournament wins; one of which was a play in game so that really shouldn't count.

However, for the last 4 decades, BYU has been a football school; the Ainge and Jimmer years being exceptions. Most BYU fans care far more about the gridiron results. As such, I really can't see there being an uprising against Rose unless the team really tanks; which given his recent recruiting success isn't likely to happen for some time.

So, you are right, Rose will get a pass in ways Bronco never will, but he has also done more than Bronco so in a way he has earned it.
