Ken Niumatalolo 

Title: Head Coach

Age: 49

Salary:  $1.7 million currently at Navy ... BYU boosts this to $1.8 million for PR/optics (not taking a pay cut to leave a service academy) ... but this also at least $200K saved over what Bronco was being paid.

Religion: LDS (Mission to Ventura CA)

Background/Tidbits: Grew up in Hawaii and of SAMOAN heritage.  Played QB under Paul Johnson at UHawaii.  Record as HC:  35-16 over the last 4 years (67-37 over all 7 yrs) with 3-3 bowl record (only missed bowl once at 5-7.) 

Recruiting areas:  ???  Assume So. Cal, HI, DC, Vegas (coached at UNLV for 3 yrs). Recruiting remains a question/concern for him as a HC.

Kalani Sitake

Title: Defensive Coordinator & Assistant Head Coach

Age: 40

Salary:  $730K currently at OSU ... BYU drops this to $600K, but he gets to come home and be groomed for the HC position.

Religion: LDS (Mission to Oakland, CA)

Background: From Laie, HI and of TONGAN heritage.

Recruiting areas: All of Cali, HI, UT (POLY esp), Florida (listed by Utes bio.)

Ty Detmer

Title: Offensive Coordinator (to run current offensive scheme ... with tweaks and alterations over time)

Age: 48

Salary:  $400K (takes a "entry level" salary for the chance to get in and be an OC ... jumping the ladder).  Don't know his current salary as Head Coach of St. Andrew's Episcopal School, in Austin, TX.  

Religion: LDS (Mission to Downtown Athletic Club, NYC, NY)

Background:  Son of legendary Texas HS FB Coach Sonny Detmer.  Ty, as a HC at St. Andrew's, inherited a team that hadn't won in a couple of years ... and they went 0-11 his first year there (2009).  They have steadily improved and this past year his team was 8-1.

Recruiting Areas: TEXAS (esp. San Antonio and Austin) ... pretty much anywhere due to Heisman and NFL career/credentials.  Played in Wisc, Philly, Atlanta, Cleveland, San Fran, and Detroit.

Guy Holliday (retained)

Title: WR Coach

Age: 55 or so

Salary:  ??

Religion: ?? (assume Christian, not LDS)

Background:  BYU Bio Page.  African American.

Recruiting Areas:  Deep South (AL, MS, GA)

Steve Kaufusi (retained)

Title: DL Coach

Age: 52

BYU/Provo guy.  Tongan heritage.

QB Coach:?  (Take a chance on Sark?, or Max Hall?)

Special Teams:  Keep Popppinga? ... special teams have been much better this year (blocks etc ...)

OL Coach: Beg 2J to come back ... mostly because I like to type "2J."

OK, I'll let Coach Ken and his Coordinators flesh everthing else out ... but I think those core three at the top would be some major talent that could turn the heads of just about every recruit that might consider BYU.  And there's NO doubt that BYU would be the official POLY PIPELINE University.
