I'm also a fan of the classic look most of the time, but it's fun to do somethin
...different on occasion.
While I think that the Oregon Ducks have overdone things, there is also no doubt that they've made this a huge recruiting tool.
That's a big reason why even teams with classic looks like UCLA, Notre Dame, etc. occasionally do alternate uniforms.
