fun and games but as things get serious and former players cause distraction and push unsolicited help and advice or even begin to criticize, the coaches will have to pull back some.
My understanding is that early on in Bronco's tenure players would hang out in the SAB but some would stand around and talk negative about the coaches, or team or other things in the program. This caused some of the push back by Bronco and staff.
Funny how the majority of coaches and other personnel on Bronco's staff were former players and he began alumni days and reunions but he was always criticized for not reaching out.
The former players that the coaches love having around are those that are very positive and helpful. You always see Lee Johnson (has volunteer position on staff), Ty Mattingly, and Jim Herman on the sidelines and at team events. Says something about their support for BYU Athletics and the coaches etc.
