Even though you don't typically avoid watching TV on Sundays, there are those in your ward who do. Waiting until midnight includes those who would otherwise be excluded due to their beliefs.

It shows respect for different interpretations and perspectives. It'd be like your kids non member friend going out of their way to schedule an exciting birthday party so that your kid doesn't get left out.

That's admirable, but don't cast it as an extra effort to keep a commandment.
