Not particularly a fan of his, but he did just lose the biggest spectacle in the
U.S., in front of HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of people. He knows as well as anyone just how dang hard it is to get to that game. He knows that he has to somehow succeed again next year against some incredibly talented teams, like the Seahawks and Cardinals, to even get another chance, in a sport where literally every single game a QB plays has a non-trivial chance to be his last one. He truly believed God was going to reward him and his family with a victory today; there's all sorts of thoughts racing through his head right now. If I lived in Charlotte, I would be very happy to have such a fiercely competitive quarterback that does take all of that to the heart and who would prefer to stay silent than say something stupid. Fortunately, here in Seattle, we've got a fiercely competitive quarterback who is also eloquent and graceful no matter the outcome, but he's pretty unique. Cam Newton will get better in these situations, but you can't fault the guy for really, really wanting, and expecting, to win.
