It's quite simple, isn't it? People criticize the conduct of a player who happens to be black and they are accused of
doing so for racist reasons. This obviously offends them since it's a big deal to be called a racist in contemporary America.
Later when the same player (still happens to be black) conducts himself in an unprofessional/objectionable manner, people wonder if they can criticize his conduct without being labeled as racists.
