students that was relayed to me. This is hearsay upon hearsay, but it came from a reliable source at the time of the incident. Early in the 2000s, there was an event hosted by BYU, and due to the enormous respect many great legal minds in the country had for Rex E. Lee, who had passed away only a few years prior, it was attended by a number of prominent lawyers, including Ken Starr, who was especially prominent at the time due to the Starr Report during the Clinton era.
A well-respected BYU law student was selected to escort him to an event on BYU campus. While en route to the event, the law student encountered a friend/acquaintance of his. He was concerned his friend might say something embarrassing and his fears were soon realized. "Hey [so and so], do you see that couple over there totally making out?" The law student introduced Starr to his friend, hoping his friend might realize who he was. "I'd like to introduce you to Ken Starr." The friend, unfazed and probably totally unaware of who Ken Starr is, replied to Ken Starr, "do you see that couple over there totally making out?" If Starr said anything, the law student didn't say or I don't remember.
I have heard that Ken Starr is a friend to the Church.
