Are the Denver Broncos the best run organization in sports?
Impossible to say, although I'm sure many of you don't think so and have valid arguments to the contrary. Regardless, what Pat Bowlen has done since he took over the team in 1984 (32 years is pretty solid data) is quite remarkable.

7 AFC Titles in 34 years
3 Superbowl Titles
13 AFC West Titles
Highest Win Percentage in the NFL
5 Losing Seasons in 34 Years
Voted in 2000 "the owner you would most like to play for" with an astounding 44.7% of player votes
Broncos have sold out every game during the Pat Bowlen era (#1 in total attendance during the time period)

They have done all of this despite changes in personnel, coaching, football rules (salary cap inparticular).

I think one of the biggest differences between them and the other great teams is the longevity and turnover. Kraft has benefitted from Belichick and Brady. San Antonio didn't win a title until Pop and Duncan. The Lakers have been great for a long time... until they lost their GM. The Lakers also have the benefit of being in the 2nd largest market. The Boston Celtics have certainly been good, but have fallen considerably over the last 25 years. The Detroit Red Wings? In baseball the Yankees have been incredible over the past century, but only 5 titles in the last 35 years (incredibly good overall) for a team that routinely outspent everyone is kind of crazy.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are another team I put right there with the Broncos...great ownership. Again a case can be made for many teams and I am not saying those cases are wrong...it completely depends on what you value the most. That being said Pat Bowlen is at least one of the greatest owners sports has ever seen.
