How about we go w/ I didn't follow BYU closely before 2005.
I really didn't have access to BYU prior to 2005. I liked them, and scoured ESPN.com for articles, but really didn't have anyone around to talk to about BYU Football. I had a couple of BYU hats, and always looked for their scores, but I didn't know much more about BYU football other than LaVell's name.
The only game I watched in 2001 was Louisville. However, Luke Staley was on everybody's radar, so I knew about him. Never watched him play. I also remember reading about Doman, and knowing about him. But that was about the extent of it in 2001.
