To be honest - I LOVED having weekends and most holidays off. I LOVED that I got off early enough in the evening that it didn't really mess with plans very often. And I LOVED that I had mornings off and never had to worry about getting the right days off for my school schedule. I just took morning classes. And most days I could get any homework done before work started in the afternoon.
One cool think I learned later, was that the time I spent as a custodian went towards the state retirement system. When I got a state job after graduation, those years as a custodian went towards the formula that determines retirement. I'm not at the state anymore, but it gave me a little boost for when I retire.
