My problem with the first three episodes is that it felt like they were trying
too hard. There are too many nods to itself. For example, in the third episode when Mulder's phone rings and it's the X-Files theme song. There is a lot of stuff like that which really bugs me.

Also, I can't stand Mulder's seemingly midlife crisis - being the skeptic now about everything. It just feels wrong, forced, and out of place for his character.

Having said that, the latest episode was great. That one felt like good old X-Files to me.
