If you desire to buy that monitor (and I understand why) then accept the standard inputs from the source. When I watch on my computer monitor I get black bars, but I see the entire source, so I'm good.

I prefer movies in the proper aspect ratio instead of full screen. Once you go to full screen you lose out on the details. For a movie or a sporting event, I want to see the entire view of what the directors (broadcasting HD truck).
